Hi everyone! This is the first time I have blogged about any of my paintings but I thought it would be a fun way for me to explain the madness.
First of I’m not claiming to be an artist lol, its just something I started doing when I got back from Afghanistan and I haven’t been able to stop since? Usually when I start painting with something specific in mind it changes, this time wasn’t any different. I started because I had this image of a skeleton I wanted to work with but really work on making the bones pop out with texture. After several different idea’s and me playing around for a while I started really thinking about my little guy on the canvas and how deep in concentration he was. Then I started thinking about how we all find ourselves doing this, freaking out on the inside but all anyone sees is our beautiful rose (fake-ass smile). On the other hand what I think about the most , what makes me that little man on the canvas was such a beautiful experience I wouldn’t change it if I could.
Anyway hope you like it!
Kevin
Great post. Continue to keep more tantalizing publications. Been following blog for Three days now and I should say I am beginning to much like your post. I need to know how can I subscribe to your blog?
Kevin, if you don’t claim to be an artist, then i certainly don’t claim to be an art expert, but dang it man, that sure looks like art to me!! I love how it’s two paintngs in one, two people in one. It’s not that easy to see the fine detail onscreen rather than in person, but it seems to me that if you turn it horizontally, it’s a completely different picture than when you view it vertically. As it hangs now, vertically, you see the joy in it, the hope, the beautiful experience. But horizontally, you see the conflict, the internal turmoil of him, his soul laid bare. I wish i could see the textural aspect of the piece in person, but even without it, i think i know what the beautiful experience is. And yes, if it’s what i’m thinking, then there is no greater fear/joy conflict that someone can go though. But the joy wins out in the end, and that’s why i think you choose to hang the painting vertically and not horizontally. Because you choose to see the beauty and the hope.
Of course, i could be completely wrong (as i often am), but i love it anyway!!

Wonderful explanation of facts aavlibale here.
Great work (and blog) Kevin! =) I love “random watercolor”, by the way. How does one buy your art?! I’m serious!
Keep up the great work.
